(S-molk Pilkan Chu'I) Stone Milled White Sonora Whole Wheat Flour is harvested by Ramona Farms in Sacaton, Arizona, a community on the Gila River reservation in Arizona.

The oldest wheat in the Western Hemisphere, White Sonora Wheat is the ancient heritage wheat brought to the Sonoran Desert and introduced to the Piman tribes circa 1685 by Padre Eusebio Kino, a Jesuit Missionary. From this wheat the famous O’odham “che-chemaith” (tortillas) were first made and have since become the quintessential centerpiece of Sonoran cuisine. White Sonora was the predominant wheat variety grown in the Desert Southwest until the 1940’s. The cultivation of wheat by the Akimel O’odham (The River Pimas) was the dawning of Arizona’s flourishing agricultural economy.
